Movember is almost over, gents have you been growing a Mo in support? Ladies have you made a contribution?
The ‘Mo’, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember. Each Movember we challenge men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The moustache is our ribbon, the means by which we raise awareness and funds for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, our commitment is to grow a moustache for 30 days. Funds raised benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG.” Movember.com
I’d heard of Movember before, but had no idea that there was so much contributing to the cause until I spent an afternoon at the Eastern Market in D.C one weekend and visited a booth for Fuzzy-Ink. Fuzzy-Ink is a cool company that makes mustache adorned clothing and has a few shirts specifically for Movember. I instantly loved their designs, who wouldn’t? The t’s were super fun and really cute, but instead of buying one right away I decided to do a little research and look up Movember and Fuzzy-Ink when I got home. As it turned out Fuzzy-Ink was listed on the Movember website as a place to purchase “Mo Merch”. I read about the cause and loved the idea of being able to make a contribution and get a fun new shirt so purchasing one was a no-brainer.
I went with their “Nighttime Nuzzle” shirt with a couple of fancy pants foxes on it and of course the sly gentleman is sporting a handsome mustache.I’d like to be able to donate more in the future and really love the idea of helping through conversation starting pieces so I can help spread the word. I can’t say I’ll be getting a real Mo finger tattoo, but perhaps a faux one for fun or a cute necklace.
The Mo might be a bit silly for men to sport nowadays, but it’s for a great cause and only for a month, so why not? If you’re interested in learning more about the Movember Foundation and how you can get involved visit the Movember website: here.
Most importantly, we ladies know how important it is to have regular checkups for cancers that affect us, so gentleman please know that it’s important that y’all get yourselves checked too! Your health is equally important and taking care of it IS MANLY (it’s niiiiiice), so do it!
